Orchefy follows a layered design: CLI / HTTP API, application services, domain layer, infrastructure layer, and a dedicated tools layer. This keeps orchestration logic, runtime services, and tool execution clearly separated.
The system supports coordinated agents, structured roles, memory, snapshots, and infrastructure services for messaging and persistence.
Each profile defines runtime config, roles, tool allowlists, and RAG sources. Profiles can inherit from a base profile, while deep-merge and union rules keep configuration maintainable.
Pharma and business domain providers are loaded as WASM plugins from profile-specific directories, allowing domain extensions without hardwiring everything into the core binary.
Orchefy supports both Tokio mode and Process mode. Tokio mode keeps agents inside the orchestrator process for lower overhead. Process mode isolates agents as operating-system processes for stronger fault containment and resource control.
This lets teams choose between maximum speed and stronger isolation depending on deployment requirements.
